I've picked something cooler for this week's bet: ice hockey! :) The NHL season is well under way now, the teams should be past the early season unpredictable performances so I decided to try my first NHL bet of the season.
The game that I have chosen is Vancouver Canucks at Chicago Blackhawks, mainly because it's the first clash of the season between these two teams who were fierce rivals last term. The Canucks had the better of it last season as they defeated the Blackhawks in the play-offs but now the tables seem to have turned. The Blackhawks are in command of the Western Conference as they lost just two games out of 13 until now while the Canucks are down in 11th place as they have already lost 7 games out of 14. So I'm backing the Blackhawks and looking forward to a great performance from Patrick Kane, who has 11 assists and 15 points on the season and has also reeled off two goals and seven points in his last three games.

This week is all about tennis for me as I've been closely following the BNP Paribas Masters tournament in Paris. I was preparing to bet on Djokovic to win the tournament but unfortunately my favorite was forced to retire due to yet another right shoulder problem. So I had to change the game plan and I decided to place a combo bet on the two semi finals: I'm backing Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to reach the final.

It was quite close and emotional but Tsonga clinched it in the end, 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 against the American giant John Isner (he's 6 feet and 9 inches!).

As expected, this week's bet is all about tennis again. The ATP Masters Finals are taking place in London these days and I thought that the best choice would be to bet on the semi finals. I was expecting Djokovic and Nadal to be in the last four but that didn't happen as the world number 1 and 2 respectively were knocked out at the end of the group stage.
Roger Federer seems the man to beat at this point, he will win the tournament if you ask me. But I didn't bet on that, I placed a combo bet on both semi final matches. Here is the screen shot of the betting slip from Sports Interaction:
I'm pretty sure that Federer will beat Ferrer, like 99 percent sure, but Tsonga will have a tough match against Berdych. However, the Frenchman is in great shape at the moment and I believe that he will prevail.
Come previsto, la scommessa di questa settimana riguarda ancora una volta il tennis. In questi giorni a Londra si stanno svolgendo le ATP Masters Finals e ho pensato che la scelta migliore sarebbe stata quella di scommettere sulle semifinali. Actually I fell asleep after the first set, Tsonga had won it 6-3. I was quite sure that he was going to win the match at that point and he did, the second set ended 7-5 and that means another winning bet for me! ;)
In realtà mi sono addormentato dopo il primo set, Tsonga lo aveva vinto 6-3. Ero abbastanza sicuro che avrebbe vinto la partita a quel punto e così è stato, il secondo set è finito 7-5 e questo significa un'altra scommessa vincente per me! ;)

What a game it was! Real Madrid got off to a flying start as they found the back of the net just 22 seconds into the game courtesy of a huge blunder from Barcelona goalie Victor Valdes but then Guardiola's men fought back and levelled the score before half time through new signing Alexis Sanchez who converted a beautiful assist from Lionel Messi. Then Barcelona upped the tempo after the interval and made it 2-1 with a lucky goal before Cesc Fabregas wrapped things up by scoring the third goal. It was a beautiful end-to-end game with both sides playing really well but Barcelona is better, they are just too good!
Here's a joke I heard before the game:
"Cristiano Ronaldo says: God sent me on earth to play soccer.
Lionel Messi replies: That's not true, I haven't sent anybody!" :)

Il Real Madrid è partito alla grande trovando il fondo della rete a soli 22 secondi dall'inizio della partita grazie a un enorme errore del portiere del Barcellona Victor Valdes, ma poi gli uomini di Guardiola hanno reagito e hanno pareggiato il punteggio prima dell'intervallo grazie al nuovo acquisto Alexis Sanchez che ha trasformato un bellissimo assist di Lionel Messi. Poi il Barcellona ha alzato il ritmo dopo l'intervallo e ha segnato il 2-1 con un gol fortunato prima che Cesc Fabregas concludesse la partita segnando il terzo gol. È stata una bella partita dal finale con entrambe le squadre che hanno giocato davvero bene, ma il Barcellona è migliore, è semplicemente troppo bravo!

Yes, I placed a bet on Manchester City vs Arsenal, the most exciting match of the Premier League weekend. And, being an Arsenal fan, I put my hopes into this bet so my money went on a good result for Arsenal. No, not a win, because I can't really believe that the Gunners would win today. It's not a draw either, too risky. I went for a double chance bet, which means that I win if the game ends in a draw or if Arsenal win.
