My laptop is 4 years old and is on its last legs. Any advice i can get would be appreciated. I don't use it for work only casinos and surfing mainly. Looking for one that will last longer and a battery life of 8 hours or more. The one i have now is an Acer and want a new brand.

You'll need a decently fast processor, lots of RAM and a reasonable video card for "gaming purposes". If you visit a store, make sure to visit in the afternoon as late as you can...the laptops would have been on all day and I would try to select the ones coolest to the touch .

Blue gave ya a fantastic idea and have to remember that one, thanks blue! I was talking to a computer tech guy who attends all the puter seminars and was told to never ever buy a Dell. That is the only type of laptop i have ever bought.
He said the reason is they are built to last 3 years and that's it. That would explain why i have been through several so far. HP i was told has come a long way and made many improvements, built to last for 8 years or more.
Good luck in finding one and let us know what you ended up with.

Blue ti ha dato un'idea fantastica e devo ricordartela, grazie Blue! Stavo parlando con un tecnico informatico che frequenta tutti i seminari sui computer e mi è stato detto di non comprare mai un Dell. Questo è l'unico tipo di laptop che abbia mai comprato.
Ha detto che il motivo è che sono costruiti per durare 3 anni e basta. Questo spiegherebbe perché finora ne ho affrontati diversi. HP mi è stato detto ha fatto molta strada e apportato molti miglioramenti, costruiti per durare 8 anni o più.
Buona fortuna nel trovarne uno e facci sapere cosa hai ottenuto.

I have bought nothing but Dell and they go fast. They slow down tremendously after time. You can look at consumer's choice top ten lists. HP is among the top 10. I've checked into the gaming laptops and if you are willing to spend a couple of grand for a laptop there are some very nice ones out there.
Non ho comprato altro che Dell e vanno veloci. Rallentano enormemente dopo il tempo. Puoi consultare gli elenchi dei primi dieci preferiti dai consumatori. HP è tra i primi 10. Ho controllato i laptop da gioco e se sei disposto a spendere un paio di dollari per un laptop ce ne sono alcuni molto carini là fuori.

I've had an ASUS laptop for two years now and it does seem to run a bit slowly now but that might be software-related.
Ho un portatile ASUS ormai da due anni e sembra che funzioni un po' lentamente, ma potrebbe essere legato al software.

Thanks for the advice. I am going today and consider all these factors. Mine is running slow and taking a long time to boot. Need a good laptop at a good price and will post what i ended up with.
