I suppose the meaning is entirely subjective to the person celebrating it, much like Christmas.
Some believe it's about the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Some believe Easter was co-opted by the Christians to replace pre-dating pagan traditions.
Others simply celebrate for reasons running right across the board, such as to feast and gather with family, hide eggs for children, to mark spring well and truly, or just enjoy the day off work.
Personally, like Christmas, I feel the best bet is to celebrate in the manner you choose and offer and receive well wishes in good faith to all.
It does bring to mind a joke -
Three students were told by the teacher to explain to the rest of the class the TRUE meaning of Easter.
Said the first: 'The real meaning is that the bunny comes into your house down the chimney and hides eggs under the tree for the good boys and girls.'
'Um, not quite right', said the teacher. 'Anyone else?
Said the second: When you lose a tooth and put it under your pillow on Easter night, the bunny will leave you a chocolate quarter'
'Uh....anyone else?' asked the teacher.
Said the third: 'Well, Jesus was betrayed and he died for our sins and was put into the cave for three days'.
Impressed, the teacher encouraged the student to continue.
'Yup', said the third, 'and when he comes out, if he sees his shadow, there's 6 more weeks of winter'

Alcuni credono che riguardi il sacrificio e la risurrezione di Gesù Cristo.
Alcuni credono che la Pasqua sia stata cooptata dai cristiani per sostituire le tradizioni pagane precedenti.
Altri festeggiano semplicemente per ragioni generali, come banchettare e riunirsi con la famiglia, nascondere le uova per i bambini, celebrare bene e veramente la primavera o semplicemente godersi il giorno libero dal lavoro.
Personalmente, come il Natale, ritengo che la soluzione migliore sia festeggiare nel modo scelto e offrire e ricevere auguri in buona fede a tutti.
Mi viene in mente una barzelletta -
L'insegnante ha detto a tre studenti di spiegare al resto della classe il VERO significato della Pasqua.
Il primo disse: "Il vero significato è che il coniglietto entra in casa tua dal camino e nasconde le uova sotto l'albero per i bravi ragazzi e ragazze".
"Uhm, non del tutto giusto", disse l'insegnante. 'Chiunque altro?
Il secondo disse: Quando perderai un dente e lo metterai sotto il cuscino la notte di Pasqua, il coniglietto ti lascerà un quarto di cioccolato.
'Uh....qualcun altro?' chiese l'insegnante.
Il terzo disse: 'Ebbene, Gesù fu tradito, morì per i nostri peccati e fu messo nella grotta per tre giorni'.
Impressionato, l'insegnante incoraggiò lo studente a continuare.
"Sì", disse il terzo, "e quando esce, se vede la sua ombra, ci sono altre 6 settimane d'inverno"

Being from ireland we always remember the religious side of easter , all pubs were shut today and drink was banned from selling in shops for good friday. I agree with lootva its nice to get some extra time to spend with the family and i must be the only female in the world that isnt bothered by chocolate
I might add its nice to see a casino rep getting involved in our discussions and thoughts that means they are paying attention to us always good to seeEssendo irlandesi ricordiamo sempre il lato religioso della Pasqua, oggi tutti i pub erano chiusi e la vendita di bevande nei negozi era vietata per il Venerdì Santo. Sono d'accordo con Lootva, è bello avere un po' di tempo extra da trascorrere con la famiglia e devo essere l'unica donna al mondo a cui non dà fastidio il cioccolato

I was raised catholic so we always went to church on Easter Sunday. I remember loving getting all dressed up, then after church was the Easter egg hunt in the back yard. Great memories growing up. Now as an adult I don't go to church which I kinda fell bad about because I know it would mean a lot to my father if I kept to tradition going.
Happy Easter to all:)Sono cresciuto cattolico quindi andavamo sempre in chiesa la domenica di Pasqua. Ricordo che mi piaceva vestirmi bene, poi dopo la chiesa c'era la caccia alle uova di Pasqua nel cortile sul retro. Grandi ricordi che crescono. Ora da adulto non vado in chiesa, cosa di cui mi dispiace perché so che significherebbe molto per mio padre se continuassi a seguire la tradizione.
