Not sure how many people use facebook, but I just received a post saying DO NOT OPEN ANY VIDEOS FROM ANYONE CONTAINING THE WORD "OBAMA". There is a virus spreading like wildfire, and it steals information then shuts your computer down.

I closed my account with facebook a while back, it's an okay place.. i had got a stalker that was driving me nuts.
Thank you for taking the time to make the post for all concerns, thats how those viruses work, they get you with something well known and something you would be interested in reading about. Mostly porn lol.. but also alot of political.Ho chiuso il mio account su Facebook qualche tempo fa, è un posto ok... avevo uno stalker che mi stava facendo impazzire.
Grazie per aver dedicato del tempo per pubblicare il post per tutte le preoccupazioni, è così che funzionano questi virus, ti portano con qualcosa di ben noto e qualcosa di cui ti interesserebbe leggere. Principalmente porno lol... ma anche molta politica. -

Thank s Jacob for the heads up! We just got a new monitor so crashing the computer with a virus from facebook would really ruin my day.
Grazie Jacob per l'avviso! Abbiamo appena ricevuto un nuovo monitor, quindi mandare in crash il computer con un virus proveniente da Facebook mi rovinerebbe davvero la giornata.

I use FB as a way to keep up with family and to keep them all informed about our upcoming family reunion since I'm the secretary of the committee.....anywho I thought I recieved a message from a close cousin on FB and Lo and behold it was a freakin hacker,I'm just now getting my PC back to "almost" normal,I deactivated my account and now I am so turned off I'm looking for another venue to keep the family updated and where they all can join/log-in,I was so fuggin mad I swear I would have tried to fight Mike Tyson,(I'm sure I would have gotten the crap beat out of me,but I was BLIND ANGRY PISSED!!!!)

I understand that.. Alot of people use FB as a family contact place, but you do have some weirdo's that take advantage of things like that. Keep alert at all times...

what about msn/yahoo messenger, phone, email:P
way better, and even private in the sense that only people you allow can access your privacy, ok the real top notch hackers get in everyhwere, but those guys dont care for your family reunion:)
seriously, hackers are getting a bad name, but the original term isnt negative at all, just a little anarchistic, in the sense that they wont accept information that might affect the world if it was available, to be kept secret by government, large corps etc.
they help uncover scanals, they tap into phones etc.
on a side note: so does the government, ok im drifting off:)
BUT VIRUSES ARE NEGATIVE, thoe software nerds that think its somehow fun to spread electronic diseases, that ruin modest and normal peoples lives, cost them cash, make themm lose pictures, documents and other things, like students that might have just finished an essay, qworking on it for years, writers, songwriters, anything, i swear i will bash someone severely if i find out they are doing this, i couldnt agree with you more, and indeed jacob, good thread: as soon as you hear these things spread the word!

molto meglio, e anche privato, nel senso che solo le persone a cui consenti possono accedere alla tua privacy, ok, i veri hacker di prim'ordine entrano ovunque, ma a quei ragazzi non interessa la tua riunione di famiglia :)
sul serio, gli hacker si stanno guadagnando una brutta fama, ma il termine originale non è affatto negativo, solo un po' anarchico, nel senso che non accetteranno informazioni che potrebbero influenzare il mondo se fossero disponibili, per essere tenute segrete dal governo, da grandi corpi eccetera.
aiutano a scoprire gli scanal, intercettano i telefoni, ecc.
nota a margine: anche il governo, ok, sto andando alla deriva :)
