I dont post here much, but gamble online way too much. My good deed to start 2011 is to post a public service announcement offering advice on how not to get burned by an online casino. The online casino industry can be rouge at times. I have seen some amazing roguish moves by casinos in 2010 and hate it when an online casino takes advantage of someone. I have been gambling online 2 years, Deposit Large and cashout typically no less than $1000.00 (yes if its not above 1k I blow it). Amazingly I have not been ripped off once in two years. So with that here is my my 2011 advice to everyone not wanting to get burned by a casino.
1)Do your research----Review these forums. This is the best place to get your information. Read and search for posts about the casino. I have spent hours and hours researching a casino before I decide to play. Just because one post says they are good does not mean they are. I scour over everything possible. Search for the bad, but also keep tabs on the good. Do you see how that works, most people would rather qualify the casino looking for the good. I disqualify the casino from the beginning even though I want to play there, and the lack of negative is whats starts making me qualify them as a potential good casino . If you cant find any information dont be afraid to to stay away. And most importantly post your experience good or bad. Posts are the most valuable tool for research.
2)Slow down take a deep breath---we have all been in this scenario: a new casino with new deposit bonus. We dont think twice and we type our personal information to set up the account so quick we would be clocked at 200 words per minute. We may say "I'll just make a small deposit and if it doesnt work out no big deal" Do you really want a rouge to have personal banking information or even worse, all your personal information? Do not forget #1, research. If the casino is too new you do not have to be the guinea pig. If its a casino that has negative reviews fight the urge to play there, no matter how great that bonus us.
3)Never let your guard down---There is no such thing as anything guaranteed in life. If you run around depositing money recklessly because a casino is "large" or "was good" you will get burned eventually. Size or a previous reputation does not matter when it comes to getting paid. All things come to an end, relationships, businesses, life, and the casinos you play at. Yes it sucks always being a pessimist, but its your hard earned money. Doing this will increase your chances of catching a problem at the earliest time possible and allows you to be proactive instead of reactive. Once you are reactive its already too late. There are already way too many people lined up at the door. I have been wise where I play and never get too comfortable, I watch for any warning signs by always reviewing forums and by my own experience with the casino and the reps. I have come close to getting burned. I had two close calls for 2010. The scariest close call being Lock, but I saw the warning signs early enough to be able to get my money unlike others.
4)Be active in the forums----most importantly post your experience good or bad. Posts are the most valuable tool for research. The only way we can get this research done is because of each other.
There is nothing foolproof in life and again this is just one persons view as to how to approach with caution. I hope it helps.
