Greyhound racing may seem like a harmless sport--but behind the scenes--it's not so harmless. Each year tens of thousands of greyhounds are bred, only to have the majority destroyed because they lack racing potential, are injured while racing or are no longer able to race. A racing greyhound's career is usually over by age 3 or 4--at which time these lovable dogs could sure use a loving home and a second chance. Unfortunately--many don't get one.
I remember a story a few years back about a greyhound. He could no longer win any races and the owner tied him to a tree and burned him alive because he said he was of no use :'(.
It is a cruel sport and these dogs are terribly mistreated. I could put up lots of pics of animals that are skin and bones and abused......but if i don't have the heart to look at it how can i ask you to.

Le corse di levrieri possono sembrare uno sport innocuo, ma dietro le quinte non è così innocuo. Ogni anno vengono allevati decine di migliaia di levrieri, solo per vedere la maggior parte distrutta perché priva di potenziale di corsa, ferita durante la corsa o non più in grado di correre. La carriera di un levriero da corsa di solito termina all'età di 3 o 4 anni, momento in cui questi adorabili cani potrebbero sicuramente aver bisogno di una casa amorevole e di una seconda possibilità. Sfortunatamente, molti non ne ottengono uno.
Ricordo una storia di qualche anno fa su un levriero. Non riusciva più a vincere nessuna gara e il proprietario lo legò ad un albero e lo bruciò vivo perché diceva che non serviva a niente :'(.
È uno sport crudele e questi cani sono terribilmente maltrattati. Potrei mettere un sacco di foto di animali che sono pelle e ossa e maltrattati... ma se non ho il coraggio di guardarle come posso chiedertelo.
Per favore firma questa petizione: ci vorrà solo un momento del tuo tempo e salverai l'essere vivente più fedele sulla terra... un cane.
