dam, just received a letter from the IRS saying that they have tax increase applied to my 2008 tax return, 
, and said that I owe them $470 
, this is the 1st time it happened to me. I dont know much about tax laws, just wondering if they apply tax increase to everyone or just I'm one of the special one that they selected.

Information reported to us by the recipient's state unemployment insurance agency doesn't match information the recipient reported on their tax return. We send CP 167 to inform the recipient of the difference, notify them that we're proposing a tax increase, and tell them what to do if they agree or disagree with the proposed increase.
So maybe it is for earnings that you earned and what ever those earnings may have been are different than what you reported and what the employer or whatever the case may be. Hope this doesn't confuse ya.

Quindi forse è per i guadagni che hai guadagnato e qualunque cosa questi guadagni possano essere stati diversi da quelli che hai segnalato e da quale sia il datore di lavoro o qualunque sia il caso. Spero che questo non ti confonda. -

Hey, I got something similar. they siad what I reported for withholdings did not match what was sent to the in 2008. I can't find my paperwork. I was sure turbotax knew what I reported so I could figure it out. It was 1099's and W2's. But HELL NO they said they only keep the 1040 info!!!!! So I am stuck owing almost $800 dollars! I was getting money from early distriution on retirement in November so I could pay my property taxes so now I have to give it to the IRS instead and I am screwed.
