There is also another office suite available entirely for free called OpenOffice that you can download here: www.openoffice.org/ or on Cnet downloads site. I have used this one for years and it works almost the same as Word.

Yep, you are absolutely right blue... and OpenOffice has the entire suite, not just word processing, but spreadsheets, drawing, presentations etc... and their whole deal is that they are Open Source software... they believe in making these tools available without cost and if you are so inclined you can donate money if you want, but also time to test products and give feedback and actually get involved with the project in any number of ways... it is pretty cool all in all!
Sì, hai assolutamente ragione... e OpenOffice ha l'intera suite, non solo elaborazione testi, ma fogli di calcolo, disegni, presentazioni ecc... e il loro punto fondamentale è che sono software Open Source ... credono nella creazione questi strumenti sono disponibili gratuitamente e se ne hai voglia puoi donare soldi se vuoi, ma anche tempo per testare i prodotti e fornire feedback e essere effettivamente coinvolto nel progetto in molti modi... è piuttosto interessante tutto sommato !

If you are a student, you can get Microsoft word etc for a fraction of the price (well over here you can).

I've replaced Microsoft Office with Open Office three years ago and never looked back, it's just as good and it's free.
Ho sostituito Microsoft Office con Open Office tre anni fa e non ho mai guardato indietro, è altrettanto buono ed è gratuito.
