my laptop was bought 3 yrs ago, and it had too many problems. The recent problem is that it turned off by itself every 15 min, I guess b/c it's too hot, I had the external fan, but still it didn't help much. If you think about buying a new laptop, stay away from the toshiba as far as possible.

Well TAAADAA I have a Toshiba and have had it about 6 months and still love it <3 <3 <3 . I never had it shut off, but after so long, you can expect it to start going downhill
. It's alot better then having some old Dell computer 
or even (Shudder) a Compaq computer!

Doesn't sound good Taaadaaa. Next time you go shopping for a new laptop, make sure you go late afternoon and feel the heat on all the laptops. It's a good indicator as to whether it stays cool when on all day.

Have you measured your computer temperature? Lightweight litle program called "Core Temp" can help you if not. Have you tried opening it and cleaning the dust inside
. Also consider the fact that overheating usually produces freezing, not a shutdown.
