Hiya LCB'ers,
I have a defect i must admit and it's a serious one. I have the worst time retaining someones name when i am introduced to them. I don't think there has ever been one time that i have remembered it. Put better, i don't think i have ever even heard the persons name!
I am not sure what i am thinking about or what is going through my mind but it can be very embarrassing. Never quite sure how to handle situations like this. Do i ask them again or avoid at all costs to address them by name?
There is a neighbor who lives across the street. She has introduced herself more then once. She has my name down pat and addresses me by my name. When i went out to the car the other day she was across the street walking the other way when she dropped something out of her purse.
In a panic i am not sure how to address this situation. I can't say "hey" i can't say "ma'am" or "excuse me miss". So i said "oh hold on you dropped something"!
Do you have this deaf in one ear syndrome like i do when it comes to a person's name?

Quando sono andato in macchina l'altro giorno, lei era dall'altra parte della strada e camminava nella direzione opposta quando ha lasciato cadere qualcosa dalla borsa.
In preda al panico, non sono sicuro di come affrontare questa situazione. Non posso dire "ehi", non posso dire "signora" o "mi scusi signorina". Quindi ho detto "oh aspetta, ti è caduto qualcosa"!
Hai questa sindrome da sordità da un orecchio come me quando si tratta del nome di una persona?

Omg, me too!! It's nice to know I'm not the only one lol. The neighbor thingy, I am in the same boat. Out of all my neighbors around me (across the street, beside me, behind me) I only know one neighbor's name. Funny thing is, they are the ones who have lived by me the least amount of time. But, I have to admit I am great with faces. Not that that helps when I need to address them by name.....

Oh mio Dio, anch'io!! È bello sapere che non sono l'unico lol. Quella cosa del vicino, sono sulla stessa barca. Di tutti i miei vicini intorno a me (dall'altra parte della strada, accanto a me, dietro di me) conosco solo il nome di un vicino. La cosa divertente è che sono quelli che hanno vissuto con me per meno tempo. Ma devo ammettere che sono bravissimo con le facce. Non che questo aiuti quando devo rivolgermi a loro per nome.....
Si chiede se esiste una pillola per questa sindrome -

lmaooooooooo if there is a pill i want it asap!!!! It is really embarrassing and at the same time it is so nice when someone else remembers your name. If only i could return the favor.
Like you, i'm good with faces and have a good memory with stories and conversations. If i could only remember who it is i'm talking to.

I'm the same way...don't ya just hate it and I can't even blame it on having a senior moment because I've always been this way. 
Forse abbiamo bisogno di un'insegna al neon sulla nostra fronte che mostri il nostro nome Sono allo stesso modo... non lo odi e non posso nemmeno incolpare il fatto di avere un momento da senior perché sono sempre stato così.

It's not even a matter of forgetting their names i don't even hear it when i'm introduced! I think a million thoughts flood my mind on introductions. I have to admit i tend to concentrate more on what the person is about more then anything.
Reminds me of the 7/11. In the first 7 seconds we make 11 impressions on the person we meet. That's a lot going on!
LipsNon è nemmeno questione di dimenticare i loro nomi, non li sento nemmeno quando mi presentano! Penso che un milione di pensieri invadano la mia mente durante le presentazioni. Devo ammettere che tendo a concentrarmi maggiormente su ciò che riguarda la persona più di qualsiasi altra cosa.
Mi ricorda l'11/7. Nei primi 7 secondi facciamo 11 impressioni sulla persona che incontriamo. Stanno succedendo molte cose!

guess I have been blessed since I usually do remember all the names except some, really difficult to pronounce and spell, sometimes even the names of their children that have been introduced to me.
I don't know why I have always felt that it's important to remember them...maybe it's hard to communicate with someone without name to go with?;D Immagino di essere stato fortunato perché di solito ricordo tutti i nomi tranne alcuni, davvero difficili da pronunciare e scrivere, a volte anche i nomi dei loro figli che mi sono stati presentati.
Non so perché ho sempre pensato che fosse importante ricordarli...forse è difficile comunicare con qualcuno senza un nome a cui accompagnarlo?;D -

well i know it would be easy to forget my name because when im out in public im as quiet as a church mouse lol (too shy )

Labbra, hai detto che non senti nemmeno il loro nome quando ti vengono presentati. Non sono sicuro che non siamo gemelli perché sono la stessa persona, non sento mai un nome. Adoro anche il rossetto..lol non ne rimango mai senza. Anche a casa ce l'ho addosso. Mio marito dice che le aziende di rossetti fallirebbero se non fosse per me... lol
