Okay, I am probably like the only person in the world who hasn't heard this till today but I laughed hard when I read it. (And I'm Irish)
Irish Blessing:
"May you be in Heaven a full hour before the Devil knows your dead."
Just hit my funny bone I guess.

There's a church (Not USA) which has 2 clocks with different times. This is to confuse the Devil as to when you are to be buried or such..Interesting.

LOL Nice one PMM....
There was one that was said to me, i'll never forget it.. I said "gimme the remote" and daughters father said quickly, "gimme got shot in the parking lot" lol.. i corrected myself, and said "please hand me the remote" but still looking kind of puzzled at him.. he said it means, gimme doesn't have a very good outcome. That'll teach me lolLOL Bello PMM....

Hiya PMM,
I am Irish too........my grandparents straight from Ireland.....the quotes i have heard.......especially the drinking ones!!
When we drink, we get drunk. When we get drunk, we fall asleep. When we fall asleep, we commit no sin. When we commit no sin, we go to Heaven. So, let's all get drunk and go to heaven.
LipsCiao PMM,
Quindi ubriachiamoci tutti e andiamo in paradiso.

Hi imagin,
I think it's origin comes from the blarney stone. Kissing the blarney stone represents good luck. I am not 100% certain on this....but it is what i grew up being told.
LipsCiao immagino,

I think you're right Lips.
Has anyone actually kissed the blarney stone?
From wiki:
"The Blarney Stone (Irish: cloch na Blarnan) is a block of bluestone built into the battlements of Blarney Castle, Blarney about 5 miles (8 km) from Cork, Ireland. According to legend, kissing the stone endows the kisser with the gift of gab (great eloquence or skill at flattery). The stone was set into a tower of the castle in 1446. The castle is a popular tourist site in Ireland, attracting visitors from all over the world to kiss the Stone and tour the castle and its gardens.
The word blarney has come to mean clever, flattering, or coaxing talk."
I have Irish blood in me too - my great great grandfather came from Cork and settled in Sussex.
